Shadow the Hedgehog

Blur Studio | 2005
Game Cinematics
We did the cinematics for this Sega videogame that puts the spotlight in one of the secondary Sonic characters, Shadow, a kind of Sonic's "dark" version who uses guns and vehicles in the gameplay.
This was, together with the Opus test, one of the last projects I did lighting & compositing at Blur (the picture above is a shot I did Scene Assembly for) before I decided to focus more on layout and animation, a decision i don't regret at all. Not that I don't like lighting, in fact I miss it quite a lot, but focusing on characters and storytelling worked well for me and I feel like I improved in these areas since then.
Here's a clip I animated.
Or in Lolcat language, "O noes! Sonic is hurted!" ;-)
And here's the lost TV spot that Sonic fans were looking for. This is the WIP version, with temp sound track. I don't have the final one that actually got edited into the commercial.

The CG scenes in Shadow the hedgehog [and Sonic the hedgehog] were one of the best in the series' history. But there is a scene in which a lot of fans are particularly interested: the one with Shadow holding a gun [or another version without a gun]. That scene is brilliant, but for some reason it didn't make it in the game. It was used only in TV commercials. We, fans, can watch it, but it's in very, VERY poor quality [240p] and it doesn't exist in higher quality. Dear Leo Santos, could you somehow upload that scene on your portfolio page or somewhere else?
Sure, just posted it. That's very close to the original resolution it was produced in. Enjoy!
That was one of the last jobs I did almost everything, from layout to final renders (minus modeling and effects).
OH GOD, THANK YOU, LEO SANTOS! I don't have the words to describe how happy I am! I have been looking for this for like AGES and it's finally on the net! God bless you, Leo Santos! You made hundreds of fans happy! =^_^=
P.S. Do you know anything about that same scene but with Shadow without a gun? And I heard there was also a scene with Maria being shot, that didn't make it in the game as well.
Thanks for "Shadow holding a gun" scene. :) Hmm...
"That was one of the last jobs I did almost everything <...>"
So that means single person can make a scene like that...
Here's the otherTV spot version:

I don't have the Maria shot anymore, but honestly that was pretty bad and deserves to disappear in the fogs of time!
Thank you again very very much, Leo! It's a shame you don't have that part with Maria, but if you think it's bad..
Were they something you made with Blur studios that didn't make it in the games (Shadow the hedgehog and Sonic the hedgehog)?
